- Scope and ContentJohn Morgan: he saw the accused take something from the cart of William Thorp and put it under his smock frock. He advised the police constable of this. Charles Stuart: was advised by John Morgan that Jesse Sharp had taken something from the cart of William Thorp. He went looking for the accused. When the accused saw him, he dropped something from his smock. He took Sharp into custody and picked up what he had dropped. William Thorp: a rag merchant, who kept a donkey and cart. He was passing through Back Lane in Leighton when a woman told him a lad had taken something out of his cart. On seeing the accused in custody he recognised the item taken as part of a smock frock he had purchased earlier that day.
