    Samuel Crawley to appeal against conviction on 4 May 1840 for encroaching on carriage way leading from Luton to Market Street by making a bank or fence within 15 feet of the centre of the highway. Grounds of appeal are that he is not guilty of the offence, the justices had no jurisdiction to convict him, he was not duly summoned to appear before the justices, that the information of Henry Bebb Morris was insufficient, that the proceedings were irreguar, that incompetent witnesses were examined, that improper evidence was admitted, that the conviction is defective, that the evidence before the justices was insufficient, and that the justices exceeded their jurisdiction.
