  • Scope and Content
28 years of age. Born in the parish of Yardley Hastings, County of Northampton where his father John George Tite then resided. He has been informed and believes that in the following year his father removed to the parish of All Saints, Northampton and was employed as book keeper to Mr Levi the coach proprietor and continued in his employ nine years then he entered into the employ of John Shaw another coach master in the same parish and continued in his employ two years. Then his father took a farm at Hartwell, County of Northampton, of Levison [illegible], at the rent of £135 per annum which farm he continued as tenant for 9 years until 6 April 1821 (this Examinant being then about 22 years of age never having left his father's family). At this time his father contracted with the Trustees under the will of Richard Hands deceeased for the purchase of a farm at Cranfield for about £1730 and though it was two or three years before the purchase was completed his father went at the summer of 1821 and resided upon it and this Examinant went withhim as part of his family working for and assisting him on the farm but never receiving wages. Having lived with his father as part of his family in Cranfield about a year and a half theis Examinant being about to marry Alice Ambridge of Cranfield left his father and took a house at Woollaston , County of Northampton at the yearly rent of £6. He lived there about 6 weeks and on 4 Feb 1823 returned to Cranfield and married Alice Ambridge. On 3 November 1826 he hired of Mr John Budd of Bedford, agent of Mr Talbot of Olney, a house and garden in Gravel Lane, St Paul, at £20 per year in which he has resided with his wife and family ever since. He has paid no rent, is poor and unable to pay any and the son of his landlord Mr Talbot told his wife yesterday that he did not care about the rent but as the Examinant is poor he would forgive him the rent if he will quit the house that he mightrepair it. This Examinant has paid five shillings and six pence for a poor rate for the house he occupies but is now in distress and has receievd relief from the parish of St Paul. He has two children by his wife - William George ages three years and George Ambridge aged eighteen months.
