- Scope and ContentAbout 22 years of age. Born in St Paul, Bedford, where his father John Skerman resided but belonged to Hitchin. His father taught him the business of a tinman and he has always lived with his father except for two years when he worked as a journeyman in London but has done no act to gain a settlement in his own right. Annotated: I Charles Short, mayor of Bedford hereby report to the Rev Philip Hunt, JP that the aforementioned WIlliam Skerman is so ill to be incapable of being removed, or of attending on a Justice of the Peace to give evidence as to his parochial settlement, and that the said William Skerman did sign the said examination in my presence.
