- Scope and ContentRuth Potter: Ann Perry was a servant in her employ at Wellington Street, Luton. On 5 April she left service saying she was going. Potter saw he leave with a bundle tied up in a handkerchief. Potter asked her back to the house but she refused and threw down the bundle. Potter tried to stop her but she ran off. She gave the bundle to Mary Ann Sanders and told her to take it to the house. The bundle was examined and contained the property listed. Mary Ann Sanders: was given the bundle by Mrs Potter and took it to Mr Potter. She saw Ann Perry throw the bundle to the ground. Sarah Whiting: after Ann Perry had gone, she missed a gold ring and a pair of women's boots. The boots were in the bundle. William Bayldon: apprehended the prisoner and took her to Mrs Potter. He then took her to the station and asked her for the ring she had stolen from her fellow servant. She produced the ring and some ribbon. James Potter: the bundle was bought to him by Mary Ann Sanders. he opened it when his wife came in. They identified their belongings. John Millard: whilst putting her in a cell, then observed the prisoner take something from her bosom and hide it under the bed. He discovered a handkerchief and 2 collars.
