    About twenty one years of age, being born in St Paul, Bedford. When he was about 15 he was placed out apprentice by the Trustees of the Harpur Charity for seven years by Indenture dated the 7 December 1819 to John Wilkinson of St Pauls Walden, County of Hertford, shoemaker. He served his Matser in thet parish for six months when his Master left the place, being as this Examiniant has been informed and believes in debt. This Examinant not knowing what to do and not having received any directions from his Master came to Bedford and procured weekly employment as a limeburner with William Berrill the elder, bricklayer, with whom he has continued to work as a labourer until last November, and has not done any act since to gain a settlement. He has not heard from his Master and does not know where he is. he was married 12 may 1825 at St Cuthbert, Bedford to Ann Bishop.
