- Scope and ContentElizabeth Bredsell Bowyer of Sutton, spinster - she lives with her berother John Bowyer. A fortnight ago last Monday she went up to the bedroom of Ann Hunt, who is her brother's servant and found the pair of stockings now produced lying by the bedside. They are her stockings, and Hunt must have worn them a long time as they are nearly worn out and they were whole when she last saw them. She knows them by the mark of a letter C. Ann Hunt - she never saw the stockings.
