  • Scope and Content
Sarah Burnage's husband refuses to enter into recognizance for the appearance of his wife to give evidence. He is in doubt as to whether Jane Wight acted under the influence of her huband but has no doubt she took the handkerchief. John Tyers, a painter who lodged at Norman's had a ten pound Bedford Bank note and sovereign stolen out of his box the same day. Jane Wight was without money in the morning, but later changed a sovereign which cause her to be suspected of stealing the money. Wight was a travelling cabinet maker and worked for Devey for a few weeks, but has now left Woburn. He is sorry for Tyers who had saved the money during the summer, but "was fool enough to boast of having the money in his box".
