- Scope and ContentJames Lugsden: was a farmer of Riseley. In one of his fields, he grew potatoes. The field was ploughed and instruction given that the potatoes be left on the ground until he could pick them. From information received he went with the constable, and the accused were found with about half a peck of potatoes. The accused acknowledged they had taken about a peck of potatoes from his land. William Sharman: was 11 years old and worked for James Lugsden. On the way to one of his master’s fields, he saw Mrs Dickens and her daughter picking up potatoes. They put them in an apron. John King: found a quantity of potatoes in the kitchen of the accused. They accused said they had taken about a peck.Statement of the accused - nothing to say
