  • Scope and Content
William Robinson Raban: he was working in his shop in Chapel Street, Luton. Terry & Willis were standing outside the shop window. There was a hole in the glass of the window. He missed a gold watch chain from the window. He advised police constable Millard. Matthew Neal: he was walking up Marker Hill, when approached by Scales, Terry & Willis. They showed him a chain they said Henry Scales had taken from the jewellers shop in Chapel Street. He saw Scales later and he told him he had thrown the chain from under the market house. John Millard: he took Scales into custody. Scales told him he had been with Terry and Willis. Terry used some wire to remove the chain out of the hole in the shop window, whilst Scales stood next to him and Willis a little lower down. They spilt up and Scales hid the chain in the privy in the yard where he lived. It was retrieved by Millard.
