  • Scope and Content
    Thomas Thorogood: was in the Fox public house, run by John Ireland. Thomas Pestell, who was Ostler there, came in and told him he had killed 2 fowls, which were on the path opposite the workhouse. Pestell told him it was Mr Ireland’s fowl and he would kill some more if he would have them. Thorogood agreed and sold this fowl to Mr Brown, the ironmonger. Emma Lines: Thomas Thorogood bought 2 fowls to her master, Frederick Brown's house. She paid him for them. James Smith: obtained the 2 fowls, from Frederick Brown's house. John Ireland: Thomas Pestell had been in his employed for 8 days, and he lost 6 or 7 fowl in that time.
