Maria Cooper: met Deeley at the White Hart in Dunstable. He asked her to have some beer with him. They then went for a walk in the field. They agreed a Shilling was to be paid, but Deeley said he did not have that until he had got some change. So she refused to go with him. Deeley told her to take his handkerchief until he got change, and she took it. they then went to the Sugar Loaf, then the White Hart, where they had a quarter of gin, and the Red Lion, where they had a quarter of rum. They then went to the shed, where Deeley accused her of robbing him; he drew a knife and threatened to cut her throat, so she called 'murder'. A number of people came up, they then left except one man who walked her through the church yard. She was going home when she met police constable Sharpe.
