- Date free text6 November 1849
- Production dateFrom: 1849 To: 1850
- Scope and ContentEdward Ashwell: Foskett & Askew told him they had seen William Crouch leave with a barrow and he was going to Harrold with it. He went to Harrold, passing nobody, and enquired at the Toll bar but no-one had gone through with a barrow that evening. He also enquired at Harrold Mill. He went with the constable in search of the wheat and was there when it was discovered in the river. He took some of the wheat home and dried it on the parlour floor. He then soaked some of his own wheat for 17 hours and then dried that out in the same manner. He determined the wheat in the river had been his.
