- Scope and ContentAbout 28 years ago married to late husband John Chettles at Rushden, County of Northampton. He lived at Rushden then and was a shoemaker. He had gained no settlement there. She had two children there and we removed from Rushden to Thurleigh by an order of removal about 23 years ago, they remained at thurleigh about a week then went back to Rushden another year or two then we came to live in Bedford where my husband died about 21 years ago. My daughter Mary Chettles was born three months after my husbands death. From that time until the present I have received occasional relief from the parish officers of Thurleigh. My husband gained his settlement at Thurleigh have been informed by parentage his father having rented a considerable farm there.
