- Scope and ContentCatherine Askem of Goldington, spinster - on 26 August she saw Charlotte Hart in the service of Mrs Hills at Goldington. That morning she missed a straw bonnet, a frock and a cape from the parlour at Mrs Hills' house. Today she saw them in the possession fo Mr Chapman, the Master of the Workhouse of the Bedford Union, where Charlotte Hart is now. The bonnet, frock and cape now produced are hers, but the cap is not. William Chapman, Master of the Workhouse of the Bedford Union - Charlotte Hart is now an inmate at the workhouse. She came into the house on Tuesday 10 September wearing the straw bonnet, frock and cape. When asked if they were her own clothes she said they were not, but when asked whose they were she did not reply. She changed into the workhouse dress and the clothes have been in his possession since. She had been in the workhouse nearly two years before on and off.
