Born in St Martin in the Fields, Middlesex where his father William Bewsher resided and belonged having obtained settlement by renting a house at the rate of £24 per annum. About 35 years of age. His father taught him the trade of shoemaker and he lived with his father in that parish until he was about 20 when he left and worked as a journeyman shoemaker in and about London. Married on 14 October at St Cuthbert, Bedford, to Elizabeth Norman.
