- Scope and ContentDavid Duncombe, ostler at the Waggon and Horses, Dunstable - slept in a room there last night with Peters in another bed in the same room. In the morning missed a half crown piece from the pocket of his breeches. He followed Peters and found him at a public house in Woburn Sands. Peters denied stealing the money, but had a new thong to his whip despite saying he had no money the night before. Peters said he bought the thong from a saddler's shop at Woburn and paid a shilling for it. When Peters' pockets were searched a shillng and sixpence were found. Peters admitted taking the half crown. A man named Thomas Emmarton, who he thinks is Peters' uncle, told him to tell the truth, but he thinks this was after Peters confessed. Jesse Peters - admitted taking the half crown out of the ostler's pocket at the Waggon and Horses and using it to buy the whip thong.
