About 35 years of age. Born in Southill where his father John Breed resided and belonged. Continued in Southill until he was 16 when he enlisted in the Bedfordshire Supplementary Militia and remained there until August 1810. In February 1810 he was married at Elstow to Hannah Bowyer by whom he has five children namely Elizabeth aged 9, Eliza aged 7, Mary Ann aged 5, James aged 3, John aged one.
