About 20 years of age. Born at Clapham, Bedford where his father was born and belonged. Lived with Mr Bazely, farmer at Clapham for about eight years until Michaelmas 1817 as horsekeeper. At Bedford April 1818 he let himself to Mrs Anne Swannell of St Cuthbert, widow as horsekeeper until Michaelmas following at wages of six guineas. Received his full wages and quitted Mrs Swannells Michaelmas 1818. Went to Clapham and worked as a day labourer for about a month then came to Bedford and let himself to Mrs Swannell as horsekeeper at six pounds and quit her service yesterday morning and was married at St Cuthberts Church the same day to Ann Covington.
