- Scope and ContentFifty five years of age. Born at St Peter, Bedford where his father William Gadsden resided and belonged. Until about 14-15 years of age he was placed out apprentice by the Harpur’s Charity for 7 years by Indenture to William Robinson of Cople, shoemaker. He served five years of his apprenticeship when they disagreeing his Indentures were cancelled before a Magistrate. He went and worked as a shoemaker in a house of his own at St Peter, Bedford which house descended to this Examinant from his grandfather. He continued in the house about 5 years before he sold it to – Walker and received £50 for it. Was married at St Peter, Bedford on Michaelmas day 1794 to his now wife by whom he has not any child.
