Thomas Juggins of Thame (Oxon), farmer - on Sunday morning 17 march he missed two Berkshire sows from his farm yard at Thame. He heard that 2 men were in custody at Luton with 2 pigs. He went to Luton and identified the pigs as his. He has known both the prisoners for several years - Thomas Price is from Thame and John Folly from Chinnor (Oxon). Robert Lees, police officer at Luton - on Monday 18 March he received information that 2 men had been offering 2 pigs for sale on the road between Luton and Dunstable. He saw the prisoners put the pigs into a pen at the market for sale. He followed them into the Crown Public House and asked if they had sold any pigs in the market that day - they denied it, and denied driving any there. He took them into custody. He heard they had sold the pigs to a man named Osborn, who said he had bought them for £3. 10s and had given 5s in part payment. He found 2s 1d on one of the men and 2s 1 1/4d on the other. Price claimed to have found the pigs on the road. He drove the pigs to the Mr Booth's shed. John Booth, constable of Luton - he assisted Lees in apprehending the prisoners and driving the pigs to his shed. Thomas Price - said he and Folly found the pigs on the road, drove them away and brought them to Luton. John Folly - said he was on the road and met with Price with the pigs and came along with him to Luton.
