  • Scope and Content
On Sunday morning 13 January he went into the warehouse over the shop with his master and Ephraim Wood, saw the window pane broken and the footmark on the sheeting under the window. About 10 days later he was setting the ready made warehouse to rights. He found the cap and neck stock now produced. Believes the stock belonged to Maddams as it had a particular tie and he had seen Maddams a few months earlier with a similar one. He showed his master and said he thought it was Bill's stock (Maddams used to be called William when he was at Mr Rogers'). The cap and stock had not been in the ready made warehouse when he set it to rights a day or two before 13 January. On Monday 18 February he was again clearing up the same warehouse and found seven silk rollers in th fire place. He went with his master and found the stock of silks was nearly all gone. He recognises the two rollers as they have his master's private marks on them - they are not from the ones he found in the warehouse. He recognises the silk handkerchief as one belonging to his master. After he discovered the robbery on 18 February he went to the coal cellar and discovered the window fastening undone and the window shut but not fastened.
