- Scope and ContentAbout 20 years of age. Born in St Paul, Bedford. On 6 July 1812 he was placed out apprentice by the Trustees of Harpur’s Charity by Indenture to William Luddington of Harrold, shoemaker for seven years. He lived with his master at Harrold for about two years and a half when he left him without his consent and enlisted in the Seventh Regiment of Royal Fusiliers where he continued till about six weeks ago when he was discharged at Chatham, Kent.
