- Scope and ContentAbout 24 years of age. Born in St Paul, Bedford. At the age of 14 was put out apprentice by the Trustees of Harpur’s Charity to Ambrose Sinfield of Kempston, tailor, by Indenture dated 4 July 1808 for seven years. Served four years and a half of his time at Kempston when he and his master disagreeing he was discharged from his Indenture by the Reverend Dr Hart when he enlisted into the Bedfordshire Militia and afterwards the 5th Regiment of Foot where he served till about 2 years ago and has since worked as a butcher. He was married 11 October 1818 at St Mary Bedford to Sarah Robinson.
