- Scope and ContentJospeh Bates: lived with his father on a farm in Toddington. A hedge had recently been cut and the wood from it was lying in a field. The wood was the property of John Bates. Joseph Bates noticed it missing. A week later, watching from the wood, he witnessed Thomas King collect the wood and make it into a faggot. Thomas King: claimed to have brought the wood with him up to his master, John Bate's, farm. He stumbled and broke the band of his faggot. The only wood he took was to fix the band and a bit of green wood to carry the faggot.
