- Scope and ContentEliza Allison of St Lloyds in parish of St Paul, Bedford - yesterday afternoon about 5.15 she saw William Bettle's cart outside her mother's door. She heard a noise as though someone was getting into the cart , looked out of the window and saw the prisoner taking part of a loaf out of the back of the cart. She told Mr Bettles, who was in the house with her mother, that there was a man at his cart. They ran out and saw the prisoner walking down the street. She accused the prisoner of taking a loaf out of the cart and putting it underneath his coat. He denied it. She pulled open his coat and found part of a quartern loaf.
