- Scope and ContentLives at Cross Hall where her husband is a farmer. Catherine Deane was her servant. On Friday morning they left her in charge of the house. A chest of drawers in the bedroom was left closed but not locked. As a result of something she heard, on Monday morning she asked to see Catherine Deane's basket . They went upstairs into Catherine Deane's bedroom and emptied the basket onto the bed. In the basket she found a pocket handkerchief marked SS, a neck handkerchief, some pieces of ribbon and pieces of a [illeg.]. Catherine Deane at first claimed they were hers, but then admitted taking them.
