    He is clerk to Messrs Laurence, coal merchants at Hertford. On Sunday morning November 4th he asked Edward Mansfield what quantity of coals he had on his wagon. He said 4 tons (10 sacks = 1 ton). If there had been an empty sack on the coals he would have seen it. He gave Mansfield a ticket for 40 sacks to be delivered to Mr Chase of Luton
