- Scope and ContentHe is clerk to Messrs Laurence, coal merchants at Hertford. On Sunday morning November 4th he asked Edward Mansfield what quantity of coals he had on his wagon. He said 4 tons (10 sacks = 1 ton). If there had been an empty sack on the coals he would have seen it. He gave Mansfield a ticket for 40 sacks to be delivered to Mr Chase of Luton
