- Date free text30 October 1838
- Production dateFrom: 1838 To: 1838
- Scope and ContentOn the morning of 25 November 1834 he was informed by James Stocker, one of his labourers, that all his clover seed had been stolen. He found his barn had been broken into and the clover seed was gone. A length of fence against the barn had been taken down, and there were tracks where a cart had been backed into the ditch and elsewhere. The next day in consequence of some information he received he went to Colmworth and traced the marks of the cart to Walker's house. The following day he again went to Colmworth and matched the wheels of Joseph Walker junior's cart to the tracks. The clover seed was found in a ditch about 70 yards from Walker's house. Walker was tried and convicted at the Assizes. He has never seen Endersby about Eaton Socon since the theft, but he was apprehended the previous week on a 4 year old warrant. The warrant against Endersby and Yarrill was granted in consequence of what Walker said. There were four sacks of clover seed, worth about £25.
