W H A Robertson was founded in December 1907 by Mr W H A Robertson, who was still its active managing director in 1949. Mr Robertson attended St Pau's School, London and was then apprenticed to Maudslay Sons & Field, London in the 1890s. He acquired drawing office expeience with Sturtevant Engineering Co and with W H Allen & Sons Ltd, Bedford before becoming chief engineer to Elliot's Metal Co. Birmingham. The company continued to expand until the mid 1960s but by 1968 was in the process of closing down.
