Examination of William Felks of Luton, labourer in case of John White, charged with stealing potatoes.

Was employed by Hetty Simkins to dig some potatoes for her that were growing in Garden Field near Stopsley. Had dug them about a fortnight earlier and put them in her barn - all sorts mixed together, some were scotch potatoes, almost black, some were large white ones and some large red ones. Might be 8 or 9 bushels. There were pink eyed kidnies - can't say positively that there were none of the sort now produced.
