    List of questions – note the original is in poor condition and some of the text is now missing, including the heading which set the context of the document. The following is a transcript so far as the state of the document will allow. It bears no obvious relationship to any of the rest of the deeds in this series and may be a stray from elsewhere 1. Imprimis whether doe you knowe the parties playntyves [unreadable] knowe John Godfrey late of Bedford deceased and doe you knowe William Newton of [unreadable] or no. 2. Item whether did the saide John Godfrey acquaint you howe [unreadable] he was delt wuthall concerninge his daughter about a pretence of goodwill and love by William Newton to his saide daughter if yea declare by whom howe and by what meanes 3. Item whether had the said John Godfrey anie case to prevent the matche between the saide Newton and his saide daughter and whether did he utterlie mislike the same and what ware his reasons did he not tell who they [unreadable] did worke the same to be a matche under [unreadable] 4. Item whether moare you [unreadable] John Godfrey and howe upon [unreadable] 5. Item whether have you harde Agnes Godfrey mother of the saide Frances Godfrey complayne of the bad dealinge of Newton and others to take her saide daughter to wife agaynste her will yf yea howe and what sorte as well scithenne the deathe of the saide husbande as before. 13. Item whether hathe not the saide Newton confessed to you that he the saide Newton and the saide Frances Godfrey are contracted together in Matrimonye and that she can have not other but [unreadable] other but her and what answere did you make thereunto and is it not the comon fame in the [unreadable] where they dwell that they are maryed or shall marye one and other 14. Item is there not a comon recoverie sued by the said Frances Godfrey to cutt of the remainder and whie was the same sued forthe as you thinke the saide Frances beinge not paste eighteene yeares [unreadable] and who was the procurer thereof and [unreadable] doe you knowe the same 15. Item whether dothe not the saide William Newton followe and presente this suite in the Channcerie and howe doe you knowe the same 1. Item whether had ever you the goodwill of the mother of the saide Frances Godfrey that you shoulde have her the saide Frances to your wife and whether you obtained the goodwill of anie other of her frends in that behalfe if yea or when 3. Item when and at what tyme was the contracte soe made and howe [unreadable] saide Frances Godfrey at that tyme and whether was it before you 4. Item did not the father and mother discharge you to proceed in [unreadable] not knowe of his expressed prohibition in his laste will and testament [unreadable] yourself in matrimonie to the saide Frances Godfrey 5. Item whether were not you the principall procurer of the saide [unreadable] complainant to suffer a recoverie of her lande at Bedford and [unreadable] what was your intent therein 6. Item whether doe not you now have not you for the moste parte followed and prosecuted this case betweane the complainant and the defendants in the Channcerie. 7.
