Census return: Robert junior, aged 39, with family in High Street adjacent to Market Square property. Robert junior was author of Leighton Buzzard and its Hamlets (pub 1928). For a detailed obituary see Leighton Buzzard Observer of 19 Sept 1933 (p.5 col 3) which briefly mentions pharmaceutical background of father and son. 1882 Robert Richmond senior dies, aged 69. Beds Mercury 28th October p.7 col. 2 mentions that he was a chemist and druggist ‘for a period of 45 years’. We can infer that the business started c.1837 1881 Robert Richmond, chemist. Robert senior, chemist, aged 68, is in the Market Place, while son Robert, aged 29, chemist and druggist, is shown at an adjacent property in the High Street. Earliest mention of Market Place/Square address for the business, but High Street address probably adjacent 1877 Robert Richmond & Son, chemists and druggists, High Street.
