    i) William Silvester Addington, Goldington Lodge, esquire, eldest son and heir and devisee named in will of Silvester Addington, late of the town of Bedford, gentleman, widower, deceased) and wife Frances Elizabeth ii) William Gee iii) John Fox (trustee for purpose hereinafter mentioned) recites: SL1/192 whereas:Thomas Addington has attained 21 and received £1800 in discharge of legacy, and £300 for George and Hannah Nash has been paid : Barber Best died and by will dated 26 February 1806, wife Ann, William Pedley and Stephen Scarbrow appointed executors : Stephen Scarbrow died in lifetime of Barber Best and so William Pedley alone proved will (PCC) : legacies to Ann, Eliza and Frances Addington remain unpaid recites: Lease and release of 10 and 11 January 1814 : Lease and release of 7 and 8 April 1814 a) Peter Addington, Goldington, gentleman b) William Silvester Addington c) Thomas Addington, Bedford Row, Middlesex, gentleman consideration £250 paid by ii) to i) - cottage then used as 2 tenements etc. in Goldington, heretofore in occupation of Hannah Simpson and William Hall, afterwards of John Cook and others, late of Susannah Cook, widow, and Mary Salisbury, but then of Susannah Cook and William Young - toft of land adjoining whereof a former Dissenting meeting house stood - other cottage nearby, theretofore in occupation of John Millard, afterwards Mary Salisbury, lately Thomas Prigmore, then of William Prigmore to hold to use of William Silvester Addington to such trusts as he might appoint, and after determination of such estate to use of iii) :Lease and release of –--1813 but which indentures are lost or mislaid, by which said William Silvester Addington is seised of (etc). - cottage now or late used as 2 dwellings heretofore in several occupations of Joseph Woode and Thomas Sheppard and since of --- Moody, widow in Goldington - close pasture adjoining (3 roods) - 6 leys inclosed sward ground which said close and leys were formerly in occupation of William Bunyon , since of Richard Wagstaffe and late of said –-- Moody : ii) lent i) £2000 on 24 September 1813, and £500 0n 4 February 1815 and £1200 on 4 February last past – total £3700 which is still owing, but interest paid up to date : i) has requested ii) to lend him £1300 which ii) has agreed to do on 14 June next upon having repayment of £3700 and £1300 secured to him by bond and mortgage and to secure him against the several legacies bequeathed by Silvester Addington and increased by i). Has been agreed that i) convey same messuages to iii) in trust : ii) at request of i) has accepted 5 bills of exchange drawn by i) for £300, £400, £120, £285, £195 making together said sum of £1300, which are payable on 14 June next : i) has become to ii) in sum of £10,000 by bond of same date as these with condition that i) should repay £3700 with5% interest - £92 10s on 30 October next and £3792 10s on 30April following (1817) now, to secure repayment of said sums i) releases to iii) in trust - farm in Goldington, once in occupation of Richard Wagstaffe, afterwards in occupation of Silvester Addington, great uncle of i) - 2 cottages in Goldington, in occupation of Richard Wagstaffe, afterwards of John Williamson and Vincent Romains - Home Close (pasture – 2 acres) nearby - sward ground called Hempland (1 rood) - close arable called Gravel Close (being every year’s land – 16 acres) lying next road from Bedford to Goldington - Green Pightle (pasture – 3 acres) - Sansom’s Close (pasture – 3 acres) - several pieces in common fields of Goldington (112 acres 3 roods) all in Goldington, heretofore in occupation of Richard Wagstaff and afterwards of Silvester Addington, the great uncle, and were purchased by Silvester Addington from Mary Cawne and Dixie Gregory - close in Goldington (4 acres) - 10½ acres in common field called Millfield - 15 acres in River Field - 8 acres in Church Field - 7 acres in the Great Meadow -tithes in the above River Field, Church Field, and Great Meadow late in occupation of Silvester Addington, great uncle, and purchased by him from Robert Mael and wife Judith, and William Harvey and Thomas Wyld - cottage now used as public house, “Swan” with orchard, in Goldington, now or late in occupation of John Perkins, purchased by Silvester Addington, great uncle, from Robert Clayton - cottage with strip of ground in Goldington heretofore in tenure of Mary Sudbury and now divided into 2, late in occupations of William Miller and Thomas Gambey W. common green called Goldington E. River Field S. William Taylor purchased by Silvester Addington, great uncle from John Quince - 2 cottages with ground in Goldington, in occupations of John Marshall and John Dorrington purchased by Silvester Addington, great uncle, from Susannah Harris and William Luddington - 3 acres arable or pasture in Goldington common fields, formerly in occupation of Robert Clayton, and now by George Palmer, senior … In Appledine Field (1 acre) …. Mr.Biscoe W. land [sic – lane?] N. hedge These 3 acres were purchased by Silvester Addington, great uncle, from Elizabeth Weale - meadow in Goldington meadow (7½ acres), once in occupation of Thomas Hensman, late of Joseph Barnard - meadow in Goldington Meadow, (2 acres) once in occupation of Thomas Hensman, late of Joseph Barnard purchased by Silvester Addington, the father, from William Robert Quill and Thomas Barton Matthews - 2 closes pasture, one known as Hoggards Close (7 acres 3 roods), the other as Sheepcoate Close (11 acres), lying contiguous to each other, in Goldington - ditch with hedge and soil, in Goldington, extending N. of Hoggards Close, then E., then N. again of Sheepcoate Close unto close formerly of Walter Cary in occupation of George Palmer, called Low Close, in Goldington - bushes, reed and quick growing on piece of bushy sward ground in Goldington along N. of said hedge, 6 feet in breadth the 2 closes consist of 1 entire close late in occupation of Thomas Odell, afterwards of Silvester Addington, father of William Silvester Addington and purchased from Mary Odell - tithes of last mentioned closes - liberty of passage through Hoggards Close through Hoggards Lane - piece arable in Goldington common field (10 acres) ......7 acres adjoining together to River Shott in River Field …… 6 acres lying on one piece .… 1 acre headland ….. 1 acre in 3 lands in Newnham Ley Furlong shooting up to Newnham Leys hedge N. Gooselands Which said 10 acres were late in occupation of Silvester Addington - tithes, purchased by Silvester Addington the father from Thomas Estwick - cottage divided into 2 in Goldington, with garden etc, in occupation of Thomas Bester and John Cook - 2 acres 3 roods arable in open fields of Goldington late in occupation of Silvester Addington the father ….. 2 lands (1 acre) in St.Neots Way furlong in Windmill Field both sides Silvester Addington …..2 lands (1 acre) in ---- Furlong in Church Field between land of Silvester Addington ….. 2 lands (3 roods – residue) in River Field in Narrow Highway Furlong between land of Silvester Addington and --– Rolf which were purchased by Silvester Addington the father from William Pedley all which said messuages, cottages etc. are now or late in occupations of i), Peter Addington, James Brashier, Thomas Dorrington, James Tomkins, William Crane, James Buston, Oliver Moore, Elizabeth Williamson, John Tomkins, William Gaunt and Stephen Nottingham Berry Farm not being included and also ½ acre land given to Duke of Bedford in exchange for 1 rood land in Goldington, upon which i) has built Goldington Lodge, and piece containing 2 acres given to John Polhill, esquire, in exchange for close in Goldington, which said 2 pieces were known by name of Sansom’s Close and since as Blacksmith’s Pightle - deeds all to iii) in trust and to convey land free from dower of said Frances Elizabeth William Silvester Addington covenants to levy fine also William Silvester Addington has sold to iii) - Far Ground, now known as Newnham Wall Piece, in Goldington, once belonging to dissolved Newnham Priory, once estimated to contain 18 acres but now estimated to be 15 acres 2 roods 27 perches N. stone and brick wall E. Bartholomew Best, also formerly of Newnham Priory now in occupation of William Silvester Addington and William Millard - cottage, now used as 2, in Goldington, formerly in occupation of Hannah Simpson and William Hull, since of John Cook and others, lately of Susannah Cook and Mathew Facer - toft where dissenting meeting house formerly stood, adjoining to said cottage - cottage adjoining, in Goldington, formerly in occupation of John Millard, since of Mary Salisbury, widow, lately of Thomas Prigmore and now of William Prigmore - cottage, now used as 2 dwellings in occupations of Joseph Woode and Thomas Sheppard and late of ---- Moody, widow, in Goldington, late in occupation of John Brimley - pasture belonging (3 roods) - 6 leys sward (1 acre) in River Field adjoining said close, used with said cottage, formerly in occupation of William Bunyon, since of Richard Wagstaffe and late of ----– Moody - deeds all to iii) upon trusts interest 5% per annum If default in payment then to iii) in trust for sale (if requested by ii) Money received to pay ii) (out of premises secondly released) £3700 and interest (out of those firstly released), to pay off legacies etc. and then to invest in 3% Consols a sum sufficient to discharge the annuities of £20 and £10, then to pay ii) £3700 and interest as shall remain unpaid, Surplus to ii) If not all sold, then remainder to be held by iii) in trust for William Silvester Addington. William Silvester Addington will repay legacies from secondly released premises and defend ii) against payment of them. While money remains unpaid William Silvester Addington will not dispose of any timber from his land without consent of ii) William Pedley appointed to hold those premises subject to 1000 mortgage, in trust Deeds are to remain with William Silvester Addington as they relate not only to property mortgaged Signatures all parties witnesses William Lancaster George Williams Nathaniel Morphett Samuel Dendy
