    Wrote to Mr Palmer the same time as wrote to him regarding the bill. He said that the best plan was not to let it be presented, but to do so, he must have another acceptance on Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. Could then manage to prevent it being sent to London. So would John draw another on him [Octavius] which he will sign. If he could call tomorrow or Tuesday, after 5, will be glad to see him. Can see no objection to giving affidavit to Cornelius. Would request that he throw no difficulty in way with Clagett. Has not been able to call on Lockner today. How will Mary Ann, (or S Smith, senior)act? He may try to get a 3rd or ¼ of £1100. If appointment invalid, suppose as lapsed legacy will be divided between you, Mary Ann, Septimus and himself. Clagett would then take your portion and the question would be whether other ¾s was worth fighting about. Present opinion is that it would not [letter incomplete]
