Has received £17 from Education Department for Aunt. As Aunt owes him £8 and promised to let him have it a month ago, will only send her the balance. Uncle Octavius is Lieutenant in New Zealand Volunteer Corps and wishing for war with Maoris – he 'rejoices in the war like appearance of the times'. Writer is a trooper in the Cavalry. Uncle will be sending his photo in uniform
