Scope and Content
Letter from solicitors to Rowland E. Prothero of the Bedford Office, London WC:
“We completed the purchase of this property yesterday and will send you all the deeds in a few days when we have had the necessary documents stamped and the policies endorsed &c.”
“Mr. Page’s Solicitor produced to us the earlier titles to some parts of the property and it is clear from these Abstracts that a considerable portion of the property and probably that on which the house stands were originally encroachments from the Heath”.
“Mr. Page has however made a Declaration that he has enjoyed the various portions of the property since they were purchased by him without any claim or demand being made against him, and Mr. Watts, his Solicitor, has joined in the Declaration to corroborate this statement. The Declaration covers a periods of from 16 to 20 years and having regard to this fact we have in accordance with the verbal instructions you gave us accepted the title and completed the matter”.
