    Parties: (i) Giles Smith the elder of Oakley, yeoman; (ii) Simon Gale of Oakley, clerk; Robert Wilsheire of Harrowden, Cardington, yeoman; Robert Stoakes of Oakley, yeoman; William Steff of Stagsden, yeoman; (iii) William Smith of Oakley, yeoman, a son of (i); (iv) Robert Smith of Oakley, a son of (iii); Giles Smith the younger of Oakley, a son of (iii) Reciting: - (i) was indebted to John Wright of Oakley to the sum of £40, Millicent Olive, widow of Bedford to the sum of £20, John Harly of Oakley to the sum of £40 and Thomas Clark of Bedford, collarmaker to the sum of £10 - £110 in all; - (iii), at the request of (i), had taken the £110 in debts on himself Operative Part: - (i) bargained and sold (a) to (ii) for 5/- Property: (a) messuage in Duck End, Oakley, formerly in the occupation of William Russell, labourer with a close of pasture adjoining; (b) six acres lying in the common fields of Clapham and Oakley in the occupation of (i) and (iii) as set out in the schedule; (c) 44 acres, 2 roods in the common fields of Oakley in the occupation of (i) and (iii); (a)-(b) and ten other acres in the common fields were purchased by (i) from his father Giles Smith, deceased; (c), with four acres of meadow and a messuage settled as the jointure of Elizabeth, wife of (iii) were purchased by (i) from Israell Willimot (a)-(c) were in the occupation of (ii) as the result of R6/42/1/2 Habendum: - to (ii) in trust; - (ii) to hold (a) and (b) to the use of (i) and Mary, his wife for their lives; - (ii) then to hold three acres of (b) noted secondly in the schedule to (iii); - (ii) to hold (a) and three acres of (b) noted firstly in the schedule so that if (i) and his wife died before Giles Smith the younger’s thirtieth birthday they would hold the property allowing (iii) to receive the benefits for the residue of the period until Giles Smith the younger was thirty after which it was to be held for the benefit of Giles Smith the younger; - (ii) to hold (c) allowing (i) and Mary, his wife, to receive an annuity of £17 secured on (c), the residue of any profits being enjoyed by (iii); - (ii) to hold (c) so that if (i) and his wife died before Robert Smith’s thirtieth birthday they would hold the property allowing (iii) to receive the benefits for the residue of the period until Robert Smith was thirty at which time he would receive £50 from the rents and profits of the land after which single payment (ii) would hold (c) in trust for (iii) for ever. Schedule: Part One - three lands in Church Field containing three roods in Short Beancroft with land of Robert Tole W and Sir Creswell Levins E; - one land of one rood in Church Field abutting on Knaves Bush with land of John Wright N and Queen’s College S; - three lands containing three roods in West Field lying together in Spireings Furlong with land of John Negus W and Thomas Grundon E; - two lands containing two roods in West Field in Home Clay with land of Queen’s College W and John Negus E; - one land of two roods in Road Field in Long Beancroft with lands of Sir Creswell Levins E and W; - one land containing one rood in Road Field on Bushy Hill with lands of Queen’s College S and Thomas Grundon N Part Two - six lands and one headland comprising one acre if Church field lying together with land of Robert Tole S, the commons N and abutting on Close End; - three lands comprising three roods in west Field abutting on Broadway with land of Sir Creswell Levins E and W; - one land containing one rood in West Field abutting on Broadway with lands of Sir Creswell Levins E and W; - six lands and one headland comprising one acre in Road Field in Bridge Furlong next to the highway with land of James Veal W and the road E Witnesses: - Thomas Smith; - William Weals; - Evans Yarrow (by mark) Giles Smith the elder and Robert Smith signed by mark
