- Scope and ContentHe has known complainant since he can remember. She hath been generally reputed a modest & virtuous woman. On Thursday of last Summer Assizes he was talking with her at her door, & defendant was 'walking about the doorway' apparently waiting to shave Mr. Jennings, Clerk of Assize. Oakley called Brown into the Bell gateway to ask what said. The day following, defendant came into the Bell kitchen raging & swearing, & said as ABCP122; and that a certain lawyer & a captain had lain with her;
