-- 12 January, 1869 he swore an information before the Justices of Bletsoe division stating that the highway called Yelnow Lane was out of repair and that the Bletsoe division Highways Board was chargeable. At petty sessions, 2 February Waywarden of Odell and his attorney, and Samuel Denton for the Board pleaded that Yelnow lane was not a highway but offered no evidence in support of this contention. They did not state that the inhabitants of Odell had always denied their liability to repair the lane and had been summoned 11 years previously, the summons having been abandoned on advice by counsel that the inhabitants were not liable. They were proceeded against in 1857 with the same result. The prosecutor is a Justice of the Peace and ex-officio member of the Highways Board.
