    Reciting deed of 14 January 1843 by which William Harbett conveyed various property to Thomas Wright Richards and Edward Handscomb for the use of William Harbett with remainder to uses for the benefit of Rebecca Teedon, Thomas Wright Richards and Edward Handscomb, Franklin Harbett, Ann Harbett, Susan Hogden [sic] then Susan Harbett, Lucy Stokes then Lucy Harbett, Harriett Harbett, Harriett Hillyard Attlee (since deceased) and Mary Ann the wife of Nathaniel Grace Lambert Personal estate and effects were assigned to Thomas Wright Richards and Edward Handscomb on trust for William Harbett for life and then to Rebecca Teedon for life and then to be divided between the other parties to above recited deed (except Mary Ann Lambert). Also William Harbett surrendered copyhold land to Thomas Wright Richards and Edward Handscomb to certain uses In 1846 part of property comprised in above deed of settlement and a policy of assurance for £1300 were assigned by William Harbett to Thomas Smith of Crawley Green by way of mortgage to secure £1800 and interest Reciting will of William Harbett of 24 October 1836 by which certain property (part of those mentioned in above settlement) was devised to use of Alice Hunt, Harriett Richardson and Charlotte Vyse for ever as tenants in common. Other part of said property devised to William Hunt on trust for sale. Another part to William Hunt in trust for Caroline Cooper, William Hunt and wife, Alice, and Emily Waller. Residue to Alice Hunt except legacy of £50 to Thomas Tomlinson. Said William Hunt appointed sole executor. William Harbett died in April 1847. Will proved (Prerogative Court of Canterbury) on 8 May 1847. reciting that mortgage debt is still due Personal estate of William Harbett were sold and whole of proceeds remain in hands of Frederick Gough the auctioneer On 1 September 1847 said Rebecca Teedon, Franklin Harbett, Ann Harbett, Susan Hogdon, James Stokes and wife, Lucy, and Harriett Harbett and Thomas Attlee, an infant, the brother of Harriett Hillyard Attlee, filed a bill against William and Alice Hunt,, Joseph and Harriett Richardson, Richard and Charlotte Vyse, Elizabeth Witherington, Caroline Cooper, Emily Waller and Thomas Tomlinson, Thomas Wright Richards, Edward Handscomb, Nathaniel Grace and Mary Ann Lambert, praying that it might be declared the settlement was valid against those claiming under the will. Also that an account might be taken of the household furniture and other matters as in said bill. Rebecca Teedon died on 30 November 1847. Bill of revivor issued against her personal representatives NOW is agreed between Thomas Wright Richards (on behalf of the parties to the said suit) and William Hunt that said Bill shall be dismissed. Agreeement as to costs. Thomas Wright Richards shall pay to William Hunt - £250. William Hunt shall sign an authority for Frederick Gough to pay proceeds of sale of personal estate to Thomas Wright Richards. William Hunt shall not be required to render accounts of monies received by him as executor and trustee. Thomas Wright Richards only to pay funeral expenses of William Harbett. Deed of Settlement of 14 January 1843 to be taken as valid. Such parts of real estate not comprised in said Settlement shall be applied to payment of William Harbett’s debts. William Hunt will not make any claim under will. All real and personal property shall be subject to trusts in deed of settlement. All necessary deeds etc. shall be made.
