Letter from Evelyn Chaldecott, sent from Jubbulpore Told that not allowed to send butter and coffee and that they will either be confiscated or heavy duty payable. The journey to Kasauli will take one day and two nights. Is not looking forward to journey or Kasauli. “It is the curse of India this migrating to the hills, such a fearful trouble and expense.” Discusses war. “What fools the Russians are and what infernally clever brutes the Germans are . . . . . . I should like to poison the lot with their own beastly gas.”
