  • Scope and Content
'Sir, I delayed answering your letter of 28 ult until I had looked into the working of the train to which you specially draw attention. This train originates in its journey at Derby and is in connection with other trains, which from a variety of causes creates a few minutes detention, but special attention is paid to the working of the train & anything we can do to make it as punctual as possible we will do. There are however difficulties at times especially with trains which run long distances which cannot always be overcome. I think if the general passenger service between Luton & London is taken into consideration it will be seen that there is no town of the same population which is so well accommodated & this should entitle us to some consideration in respect to the goods traffic of the town.'
