    Discharge of Legacies by Thomas Battams of Stevington, gentleman and Sophia, his wife (née Sophia Pool) Reciting: - will of Richard Pool of Stevington, baker of 29 January 1811 bequeathed to John Perry of Pavenham, baker and this son Thomas Pool £1,000 in trust to be placed out at interest to maintain and educate his two daughters Sarah and Sophia and divide equally between them at age 21 and if they or his son William died before receiving their legacies they should be divided amongst his wife Margaret and other brothers and children of the deceased child; he appointed his wife Margaret, son Thomas and John Perry as his executrix and executors; - codicil to the will of Richard Pool of 18 April 1812 charging his other estates to ensure that the sum of £1,000 held in trust should be realised; - proof of the will of Richard Pool on 19 October 1812 in the Archdeaconry Court of Bedford; - will of Margaret Pool of 25 February 1820 bequeathing £500 to her daughter Sophia and devising all her real estate to her son William subject to the legacy of £500 to Sophia made by Richard Pool and that made by her in her will; - proof of the will of Margaret Pool on 3 September 1822; - Margaret Pool paid the legacy duty on the £500 bequest in the will of Richard Pool; - the legacy duty on the £500 in the will of Margaret Pool had also been paid; - Richard Pool’s estate was more than enough to pay his debts, legacies etc.; - all interest in the two legacies of £500 had been paid; - Sophia Battams had applied to Thomas and William Pool, Margaret Pool’s executors, to pay her the two £500 legacies Operative Part: - Thomas and William Pool paid Thomas and Sophia £987/13/4 (the two £500 legacies minus legacy duty) for which Thomas and Sophia Battams acquitted William and Thomas Pool; - John Perry, Richard Pool and, Thomas Pool and William Pool paid 10/- to Thomas and Sophia Battams; - Thomas and Sophia Battams discharged John Perry, Richard, Thomas and William Pool of the two legacies; - Thomas and Sophia Battams discharged Thomas and Richard Pool as devisees in fee under the will of Richard Pool and William Pool as devisee in fee under the will of Margaret Pool of monies charged upon the property of Richard, then Margaret Pool to secure the legacies
