    Recites Letters Patent, 8 December 1404. 12 February following: grant by John Wakeryng clerk, William de Bergh, clerk, John Broghton, Robert Whityngham, John Whetele, John Shirynton clerk, Henry Kay, Richard Stacy, John Pountfreyt, William Wanscall, John Cradoc and Robert de la Chambre, to Braybrook and others. Letter of attorney also 12 February, by Wakeryng and others to John Zevelden, clerk, and Thomas Ruggele clerk. Braybrook and others in execution of premises, asked the Pope, Innocent VII, for a mandate; a bull was given to the Abbot of Warden, authorising the setting up of the college, which the Abbot was not able to obey himself (personaliter intendere non valebat); in his stead Hunden has been entrusted with carrying out the bull, by deed dated 3 March last. John Ward has quit-claimed to Braybrook and others, 30 September 1406, all right to the advowson etc. Hunden, Braybrook and the others therefore, by virtue of foregoing, set up the college of Northill. John Ward is to be Master. They appoint 4 chaplains who with the master are to perform divine services. Warde and his successors are to govern the college and perform the ordinances of the founders. The chaplains are to obey the master. Witnesses: Baldwin Pigot knight, William Boson,John Launceleyg (?), Thomas Stacy, John Boteler.
  • This deed has been much mutilated, all the margins and seals having been cut off. Wherever the word “Pope” occurs it has been obliterated.
