    John Brown of Kempston gentleman, to Richard Fowkes of Wootton son and heir of Matthew deceased. Recites that Matthew Fowkes of Wootton yeoman was seized of - -- messuage in Wootton and the Grove close adjoining. (6ac.), part of Church close (3ac.), 10 ac. in the fields, 1 lott of meadow in Broad mead being 4 scythes and containing 4ac., 2 ac. meadow in Little Brook. By a Recovery and deed use of the premises was declared to Edmund Wingate of Ampthill esq. and John Brown, to be held by them in trust for Matthew Fowkes. Lease for 999 years, 20 jan. 1652/3, Wingate, Brown and Fowkes to Humphrey Monoux "the esq. now baronet." Fowkes and Wingate are dead Witnesses: John Gamble, Lewis Fowkes. seal on tag no impression, papered broken.
