Edwin Simpson was baptized in Mansfield, Notts on 22 June 1836 being one of 6 children to Henry Simpson b 1810 Mansfield Woodhouse, Notts and Amy Wright b 1812 Mansfield, Notts.
Mary Jane Simpson was baptized Mansfield, Notts 10 Sept 1837, one of 5 children to Peter Pogmore and Elizabeth Wilson both of Sutton Cum Duckmanton, Derby.
Edwin and Mary Jane Simpson had 6 children (4 girls all being teachers) and 2 boys (one died at 19 years old):
