Scope and Content
Recites Marriage Settlement; he has laid out "several great sums of money in the repairing and building the house in Mogerhanger
wherein I lately dwelt " which is part of wife's jointure.
To w. best coach, 1 pr. coach horses with harness; she is to live at Northill and have the use of orchards, gardens, yards, some of the stables and outhouses (except the great tiled barn and granary) until s. Ralph is 21; also use of all household goods, plate, linen etc.; also the use, but not the property of "all my plate known by the name of her dressing plate" for life, then to dau. Fra. if living, if not to dau. Margt., which plate is worth £300.
Remainder of goods and pers. est. (except leasehold lands) to kinsman Sir John Mordaunt of - Warwcs., bart. and John Orlebar of the Middle Temple esq., and to friends Matth. Dennis of Kempston esq. and Fra. Brace of Bedford gent., exors. in trust to hold all lands and rents of leasehold lands until s. Ralph is of age; to raise £2,500 to be given to dau. Fra. for her portion and £2,500 for dau. Margt. They are to have guardianship and tuition of s. Ralph and daus. To exors. £10 apeice to buy them mourning and £20 for their trouble.
To w. £40 for mourning.
To bros. Tho. and John Bromsall and sis. Everard £10 each for mourning.
To poor of Blunham £5, also of Northill.
To poor of Mogerhanger £10 to be invested by churchwardens and overseers.
To be buried at Blunham nr. father.
