Has been to see Mr. David Gould, whom William Rogers spoke to. He has written the particulars of what was said:- William Clarke told Rogers that if he would be a witness that Mrs Taylor and Mr. Mellish had been lawfully married he would pay him about £40. Rogers said he could do no such thing, as he was certain they never were married.
