Scope and Content
Most of these papers refer to a case in Chancery. A short account of the estate and lawsuit appears on 2 loose pages preceding p.151 in the 'Barford and Charthouse' volume of transcripts [FN1252], ending 'what was the issue I know not'. The manuscripts are then transcribed or summarised.
Physical description
Many of the documents were fragile and damaged by damp. Repairs started in 1948 and some have yet to be completed; at least some items are currently unfit for production.
